Hump Day Deal!

If you didn't know now you do Wal-Mart.com sells furniture.  M and I bought a queen bed after we were married from there.  I love pottery barn, but there stuff can be pricey.  Check out these links to compare how similar these beds are in style:  PB Bed  vs. WM Bed  and then check the price.  We have bought a bed, bench, and dresser.  They are all great quality.  When I receive compliments people are surprised at where I got them.  Happy Wednesday Everyone!  I am a happy camper because I will be NYC tomorrow!

Nationals vs. NY Mets

Thursday night Mike's best friend James invited us to the Nationals game.  I didn't know I would be sitting on the field (lol).  His seats were on the first row right behind the dugout.  This was my first game in there new stadium.  It was lots of fun even though they lost.  I got a baseball from the NY Mets coach.  Locals here say that DC sports teams are suffering from the DC curse because most of them have not been good for some time.  The picture below is from the Presidents' Race.  They were really funny running around the field with those giant heads.  The contestants were George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, and Theodore Roosevelt.

Hump Day Deal!

I have been trying to think of something I could do weekly that would benefit my readers.  I think I have come up with a good idea.  Every week I am going to post something I have either bought or come across that is fashionable and reasonably priced.  This will vary greatly as does my blog. LOL  I was reading some of the blogs I follow today and love the things they post, but majority of the time they are so expensive.  I am not sure what my style is, but I typically follow trends.  When I go shopping I look for pieces that are different and stand out.  My shopping style is picky.  I have never gone and spent several hundred dollars at once.  I buy pieces here and there.  I am not sure which style of shopping is better for the pocket book.  My first Hump Day Deal is this floral dress from Target and it is only $21.99.   If buying online Target frequently has opportunities for free shipping.   Hump Day Deal About two months ago I noticed that florals are totally in this spring/summer and then I came across this dress.  I loved it in the store in navy, but they did not have my size online or in the store.  I ended up buying this exact dress on the link.  I have had so many compliments and the fit is very flattering and cute.  I have dressed it up with heels, down with flip flops, and casual fun with cowboy boots.  It also comes in many different color patterns.  I hope you enjoy!

What is your shopping style?

Meet my skinny House

Finally here is a picture of our skinny home!  You seriously see the back of the house when you walk through the front door.  It is a cute cozy place and all we need for now.  The key to this home for us was the nice backyard.  It was built in 1941 and a sweet older couple appeared to have really loved this place.  Until us it has not had any TLC.  I would like to think that couple is looking down pleased at how we have made it a home.  This house has definitely opened my eyes at how much stuff our generation thinks we need compared to then.  The closets here are TINY!!!  I love the sweet corner porch, huge hydrangea bushes, rose bush, and the neighborhood.  BTW we are selling our beautiful TN home if you guys know anyone interested.  I hope everyone is having a great week!!

XOXO,

Sometimes I wish...

I just finished watching the most recent episode of "The City" and Kelly Cutrone cracks me up.  There are definitely times I wish I had some of her back bone.  In last week's episode Olivia screwed Whitney over (of course) and Kelly was furious. She is one lady I would never want on my bad side.  Olivia is so pretty with good style, but that's about it.  Here are my favorite lines from Kelly telling Whitney to take Olivia down for what she did.
"Do you know where nice people end up, on welfare.  You have to let people who are toxic to you know you will fight back.  She is professionally dangerous to you.  She is like a petty tyrant.  Scare the S*** out of her and don't ever do in email or in writing!"

GO Kelly!

Jimmy Buffett

Now I don't know

I don't know where I'm a gonna go
When the volcano blow

The weekend of the historical flood Mike and I were in Nashville for the Jimmy Buffett concert.  That was our anniversary gift to each other this year.On May 1, 2010 we weathered the storm with our parrot head tailgate and then had a blast at the concert. His music makes me want to pack my bags and move to an island.  I hope everyone had a great weekend! We had beautiful weather Saturday.

Sleepless in the City

The second to last weekend in April I went to NYC for the night with some of my friends from here.  It is so crazy being this close to one of my favorite cities.  We took the bolt bus which was $30 dollars and found out that if you ride stand by you can ride for a buck.   That is a crazy good deal!  We left at 9:00am and arrived after lunch.  This was a quick trip so we only went to two stores in the city Uniqlo and TopShop.  Both stores are reasonably priced with lots of fun styles.  Uniqlo originated in Japan and TopShop in the UK.  The reason for the trip was my friend Hillary's best friend from Boston was having her birthday party in the city.  We stayed the night in the Empire Hotel which is where Gossip Girls is filmed.  I would highly reccommend it.  It is on the upper west side, across the street from the Met, and the subway.  Hillary's friend who works at the Met got us a great deal on our room.  Thanks Shelby!  My long time friend Catherine Cocke who has been living in NYC met up with me for the night.  I was so excited to have her with me.  We all went to dinner and then to a karaoke place where we had our on suite.  Each room had flat screens on the wall with an ipod to select the songs you wanted to sing.  It was soooo much fun!  Three hours later when our time was up and our vocies shot we went back to our hotel to the roof top.  Apparently it is a hot spot because there was a huge line and it was packed.  Since we were staying there we got to skip the line.  The next day we headed out early because I had to work.  Stay tuned for my next trip to NYC Memorial Day weekend!!! :o)

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day Mom!!!

When I was in the fifth grade my teacher Mrs. Alexander (I think) had each of us write why we had the best mom.  Well, not brag or anything, but mine got picked to be in the Jackson Sun. Whooohooo!!!  That's such a big deal to a young small town girl.  I wish I had a copy of it with me and I would put it on here.  My mom had it laminated and carries it in her bible to this day.  It is the sweetest thing even if I was the one who wrote it.  I have always been a happy go lucky type of child/teen/adult which is probably not always the easiest type to raise.?.?.  I have come to appreciate so many things my mother taught me as a child.  Here are a few: love, christianity, etiquette, piano, organization, cleanliness, discipline, loyalty, and I could go on for days.  Mom, thank you for always loving and supporting me! I hope to one day be half the mom you have been to me.  Please come visit soon! I love and miss you!

Middle TN 500 Year Flood

Our anniversary gift to each other this year was a trip to Nashville to see Jimmy Buffett. Saturday we were downtown under the pedestrian bridge on 2nd avenue having our Parrothead tailgate during the storms. We knew it was raining hard at times, but never in our wildest dreams would we have thought this could have happened. Please pray, donate, or volunteer to help out the victims. This was an over 500 year flood, so most of the victims do not have flood insurance because this just never happens here. Our home was fine, but the water got up to our next door neighbors yard. I have friends who have lost everything if you would like a specific person to help.
