Let it snow, Let it snow!!

*SNOW DAY*

Yesterday I was totally jealous that everyone in TN was getting so much snow and we had nothing.  I was thinking I leave and then the snow comes.  I know TN has not had that much snow since I was 4 or 5 years old.  I love to watch old home videos of my brothers and I sledding all over the neighborhood.  "Patience is virture" because when I got up this morning the snow was coming down and as of now it hasn't stopped.  It is beautiful!!!  My first thought was I now have a reason to get new SHOES!!!  I had eyed these snow boots a few weeks ago when Mike had mentioned going skiing.  Mike hated what I was wearing and took me to buy the boots.  After wearing them all day in the snow I would highly recommend them.  They are functional and stylish.  Check out boot here  I plan to also use these on rainy cold days walking from the subway to work.

Home away from home

Here are some pictures I took with my cell phone of our new tiny home. It was built in 1940 and to this day has alot of the original charm. It is 2 bedroom (well I don't know if you can call that second room a bedroom) and 1 bath with a living room, dining room, kitchen, basement, and sunroom. I am going to try today to remember to take a picture of the side of the house so you can see exactly how shallow it is. I have been able to get dishes and cookware put away strategically. I have no clue where I am going to put all of our clothes. When I say tiny closets you have no idea. I am excited about decorating it because it's not ours so I can try things I would probably not do in our TN home. The dogs are LOVING the big backyard. Have a great weekend everyone!!

Packing Day

We are packed up and ready to hit the road in the am. This move is the easiest I have done packing wise because we are keeping our home, so we were not pressured to take everything. Yesterday at work broke my heart telling my sweet patients goodbye and coworkers I had grown to love. I want to give a big thanks to my parents and Mike's dad for helping us pack today. I mentally blocked what was happening when my parents left so I would not get upset. They will be coming to visit in a few weeks, so that also helped.

5 days and we are out of here

Moving day is almost here! We are leaving Saturday evening or Sunday morning. I can't believe I am officially leaving this state I love. I am 70% really excited and 30% mixed emotions. Please keep us in your prayers specifically about finding a home, getting adjusted financially, and a new church. Mike grew up in this area so we already have a group of great friends and his parents are 5 to 10 minutes away. I am really excited about being so close to family. I havn't been this close to family since high school. I will miss my mom and dad like crazy!! Even though they were 3 hours away if I needed something it was more like a phone call away. I will start my new job as long as DC gets my license to me in time on the 28th. I ate chick fi la chicken minis (yum) one last time for breakfast this morning. That had become a bad ritual most mornings during my commute to Nashville. Hopefully with me not driving to work I will not be able to swing on in to drive thrus for breakfast and will lose these last few pounds ha! ha! I will also be doing a lot more walking to get around there. I told Mike I really NEED a trench coat and rain boots.

True Love

I know if you are a woman you have watched or read "The Notebook" and remember how Noah and Allie ended up spending the rest of their lives together. Well, towards the end of their lives together Allie becomes diagnosed with dementia. In my work with adults I spend 80% of my day with dementia patients. I have husbands who demonstrate that same love to their wives everyday. I don't know why, but today one of those couples brought tears to my eyes. I wanted to share with you guys what I witness almost everyday. The wife has had dementia for the last several years. She stayed at home with her husband until last spring when he was unable to care for her adequately. He comes everyday to have lunch with his sweetie. She usually recognizes him by displaying the biggest smile you have ever seen. He has not been able to converse with her for the last year, but that has never stopped him from coming. In the last couple of months he was diagnosed with Melanoma and began treatment. I was so sadden by this news because I knew this would mean less time for them to spend together. That would be the only thing to keep him from coming as often. Today was the first time I had seen him come in a while. I walked into the room where the musician was performing for the resident's and he had his arm around his wife and was singing the old tunes like they had never missed a beat. This is the kind of love I hope all my friends strive to find in their husbands and boyfriends. Remember the significance in the words of your vows to each other. I love my husband!

Real Estate Ridiculousness

Mike and I have pretty much decided to rent for the first 6 months in Arlington. That will give us time to look for the best dump to fix up because I am pretty sure with having our home in TN that will be all we can afford. The "what" line

So here is a map of my new mode of transportation to work aka train/subway. I am not really sure the difference if there is one. I know my first few weeks doing this I will stick out like a sore thumb. I am really excited about not having a long drive to work everyday. My H3 will finally get a break from all the miles I have put on it this last year. I think my route to work will be the orange to the red..... Wish me luck!

Movie Night

"AVATAR"

Mike and I went to see "Avatar" 3D tonight. I immediately thought it would not be a movie I would like, but I was pleasantly surprised. I would give it a 4/5 stars. It took me back to my vivid imagination I had as a child. It is a pretty long movie, so be prepared.
