Sleepless in the City

The second to last weekend in April I went to NYC for the night with some of my friends from here.  It is so crazy being this close to one of my favorite cities.  We took the bolt bus which was $30 dollars and found out that if you ride stand by you can ride for a buck.   That is a crazy good deal!  We left at 9:00am and arrived after lunch.  This was a quick trip so we only went to two stores in the city Uniqlo and TopShop.  Both stores are reasonably priced with lots of fun styles.  Uniqlo originated in Japan and TopShop in the UK.  The reason for the trip was my friend Hillary's best friend from Boston was having her birthday party in the city.  We stayed the night in the Empire Hotel which is where Gossip Girls is filmed.  I would highly reccommend it.  It is on the upper west side, across the street from the Met, and the subway.  Hillary's friend who works at the Met got us a great deal on our room.  Thanks Shelby!  My long time friend Catherine Cocke who has been living in NYC met up with me for the night.  I was so excited to have her with me.  We all went to dinner and then to a karaoke place where we had our on suite.  Each room had flat screens on the wall with an ipod to select the songs you wanted to sing.  It was soooo much fun!  Three hours later when our time was up and our vocies shot we went back to our hotel to the roof top.  Apparently it is a hot spot because there was a huge line and it was packed.  Since we were staying there we got to skip the line.  The next day we headed out early because I had to work.  Stay tuned for my next trip to NYC Memorial Day weekend!!! :o)

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day Mom!!!

When I was in the fifth grade my teacher Mrs. Alexander (I think) had each of us write why we had the best mom.  Well, not brag or anything, but mine got picked to be in the Jackson Sun. Whooohooo!!!  That's such a big deal to a young small town girl.  I wish I had a copy of it with me and I would put it on here.  My mom had it laminated and carries it in her bible to this day.  It is the sweetest thing even if I was the one who wrote it.  I have always been a happy go lucky type of child/teen/adult which is probably not always the easiest type to raise.?.?.  I have come to appreciate so many things my mother taught me as a child.  Here are a few: love, christianity, etiquette, piano, organization, cleanliness, discipline, loyalty, and I could go on for days.  Mom, thank you for always loving and supporting me! I hope to one day be half the mom you have been to me.  Please come visit soon! I love and miss you!

Middle TN 500 Year Flood

Our anniversary gift to each other this year was a trip to Nashville to see Jimmy Buffett. Saturday we were downtown under the pedestrian bridge on 2nd avenue having our Parrothead tailgate during the storms. We knew it was raining hard at times, but never in our wildest dreams would we have thought this could have happened. Please pray, donate, or volunteer to help out the victims. This was an over 500 year flood, so most of the victims do not have flood insurance because this just never happens here. Our home was fine, but the water got up to our next door neighbors yard. I have friends who have lost everything if you would like a specific person to help.
